David (Dave) Sracic is an engineering leader and individual contributor with over 25 years of experience in DoD software engineering, Undersea Warfare, acquisition, and S&T initiatives.

As Co-Founder and CTO of Marestella, Dave leads the company’s engineering efforts-- driving multi-domain research and development to ensure Marestella’s customers remain at the forefront of emerging technology.

Dave’s career began as a 19-year-old software engineering intern at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Carderock Division, where he grew into a Senior Science and Technology Manager supporting the Navy’s Undersea Warfare community. Over the years, he has led the development of acoustic tactical decision aids, supported real-world operations in remote locations, successfully transitioned numerous S&T projects into programs of record, and built highly effective cross-organizational teams to advance undersea warfare capability. He has also served as a trusted advisor to NAVSEA program offices, OPNAV resource sponsors, ONR, ONI and the Navy METOC enterprise.

Most recently, Dave led the refactoring of a tactical SONAR capability into containerized microservices and was instrumental in bringing Kubernetes to the submarine combat system. He also worked across multiple programs and funding lines to help establish a software factory supporting multiple Undersea Warfare programs.

Dave credits his success to the mentors who guided him early in his career and strives to mentor students at every opportunity. When he’s not navigating Kubernetes clusters, the AWS CLI, or Rust syntax obscurities, he’s keeping up with his teenage sons or working with his wife to figure out who’s driving which kid to what practice.
